Wedding Lighting Design frequently asked questions

How is this service priced?
Modern Era Weddings uses day-rate pricing rather than hourly billing — your DJ, photo, and video packages cover unlimited hours on the day of your event. Photo booth packages run a fixed 5 hours of active rental time (additional hours are available as an upgrade). Pricing depends on the artist or DJ you choose, venue location, equipment needs, and whether the service is part of a multi-event Signature Wedding Weekend. Every couple receives a custom quote within 24 hours of submitting a consultation request.
Where is this service available?
This service is available throughout Southwest Florida (Naples, Marco Island, Sarasota, Tampa, Fort Myers), the Florida Keys (Upper Keys: Key Largo & Islamorada; Middle Keys: Marathon & Duck Key; and Key West), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes regions of New York. Travel is also available for destination weddings in the Berkshires, the Poconos, the DC metro, and nationwide.
How far in advance should I book?
For peak season (October-May in Florida, May-October in Pittsburgh) we recommend booking 9 to 12 months in advance. Off-season and short-notice bookings are accepted when availability allows.
What kind of lighting do you offer?
Our lighting catalog includes wireless LED uplighting in any color, dance floor lighting, monogram and gobo projection, pin-spotting on cake and centerpieces, and full intelligent moving-light packages for higher-production events.
Can the lighting be custom-color matched to our wedding palette?
Yes. Our LED uplights are fully RGB color-mixable and we color-match to your specific palette, swatches, or florals during the planning consultation.
What's the difference between Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 lighting?
Tier 1 is wireless uplighting around the room perimeter. Tier 2 adds pin-spotting on cake and centerpieces plus a custom monogram or gobo projection. Tier 3 is a full venue wash with intelligent moving-head fixtures programmed to the music — the closest a wedding gets to a club lighting rig.
Do you offer custom monogram or gobo projections?
Yes. Custom monogram gobos are designed from your wedding crest, monogram, or motif and projected onto the dance floor, a wall, or the ceiling. Lead time is roughly 3-4 weeks before the event for the custom gobo to be cut.
How does dance floor lighting differ from intelligent moving heads?
Dance floor lighting is included with every DJ package — fixed-position color-changing lights that wash the dance floor. Intelligent moving heads are an upgrade: programmable fixtures that pan, tilt, gobo, and color-shift to the music, used on Tier 3 packages.
