How is this service priced?
Modern Era Weddings uses day-rate pricing rather than hourly billing — your DJ, photo, and video packages cover unlimited hours on the day of your event. Photo booth packages run a fixed 5 hours of active rental time (additional hours are available as an upgrade). Pricing depends on the artist or DJ you choose, venue location, equipment needs, and whether the service is part of a multi-event Signature Wedding Weekend. Every couple receives a custom quote within 24 hours of submitting a consultation request.
Where is this service available?
This service is available throughout Southwest Florida (Naples, Marco Island, Sarasota, Tampa, Fort Myers), the Florida Keys (Upper Keys: Key Largo & Islamorada; Middle Keys: Marathon & Duck Key; and Key West), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and the Hudson Valley and Finger Lakes regions of New York. Travel is also available for destination weddings in the Berkshires, the Poconos, the DC metro, and nationwide.
How far in advance should I book?
For peak season (October-May in Florida, May-October in Pittsburgh) we recommend booking 9 to 12 months in advance. Off-season and short-notice bookings are accepted when availability allows.
What enhancements do you offer beyond the standard DJ package?
Our enhancements catalog includes cold sparks, dancing on the clouds (low-fog first dance), CO2 jets, custom monogram and gobo projections, decorative mirror balls, color tube lights, ceiling and floor projections, DJ booth furniture, lighting programmed to the music, and percussion add-ons. Enhancements layer on top of any DJ package.
How do cold sparks work and are they indoor-safe?
Cold sparks are non-pyrotechnic, low-temperature sparkular fountains that produce a 10-15 foot indoor-safe spark column for first-dance or grand-entrance moments. They're permit-friendly at most venues and don't trigger smoke detectors when run inside the manufacturer's spec.
What is "dancing on the clouds" and how is the effect created?
Dancing on the clouds is a low-lying fog effect that fills the dance floor with knee-high white fog for the first dance, creating the look of dancing on a cloud. The fog is generated using dry ice (not haze machines), so it stays low to the floor, dissipates quickly, and won't trigger smoke detectors.
Can we use CO2 jets at our reception?
Yes. CO2 jets produce a high-pressure white plume on cue — typically used at the introductions, the first dance, or the dance-floor opening. Venues with low ceilings or sprinkler-sensitive HVAC may need approval first; we coordinate that during planning.
Are custom monogram projections available?
Yes. A custom monogram gobo is cut from your wedding crest or initials and projected onto the dance floor, a wall, or the ceiling for the duration of the reception. Lead time is roughly 3-4 weeks before the event for the gobo to be produced.
